Why did Tanner Houck use a broken bullpen phone cover to honor Alex Cora
As per reports from the Red Sox’s official X account, pitcher Tanner Houck used the same bullpen phone cover that manager Cora had broken for getting ejected, to honor him after Rafael Devers scored a home run.Earlier in the game, manager Alex Cora got into a heated argument with home plate umpire Mike Estabrook, which got him ejected from the game. In a fit of anger, he reached the dugout and the first thing he saw was a bullpen phone cover, which he smashed on the ground and then left the ground.The broken bullpen cover then made its way to Tanner Houck, who held onto it throughout the game. When the Red Sox’s DH Rafael Devers closed the game with his winning home run, Houck used the same broken bullpen cover to honor Cora.When Brennan Bernardino was asked about the broken phone cover, he replied, “It made it into the clubhouse after the game. It might be a new celebratory thing.”Whether the broken bullpen phone cover will make another appearance in a Red Sox match or not remains to be seen.
Why was Alex Cora ejected
As per reports, Cora got into an argument with Estabrook over a wrong ball call, which led him into getting ejected from the game.

However, the Red Sox team made sure that the manager’s ejection did not go to waste. With Cora out of the game, the players faced the New York Mets and shut them out with a 0-2 score, with Rafael scoring the winning home run.
