Round Rock Express 5, Charlotte Knights 1
The Knights started off with a bang in the bottom of the second inning off old friend Dane Dunning, with Colson Montgomery and Kyle Teel hitting back-to-back singles, followed by Bryan Ramos’s RBI forceout that plated Montgomery. Sadly, that would be it for the Charlotte offense as the bats went silent and only mustered three more hits over the last seven frames. The good news is that three of their five total knocks came from Montgomery, who has been hitting well since returning from the ACL.
Knights’ starter Owen White held the Express scoreless through four innings, but the tide turned in the fifth when Marcus Smith hit a two-run tank for Round Rock, giving them a 2-1 lead they wouldn’t relinquish. The Express extended their lead in the seventh inning by putting up a three-spot against reliever Justin Dunn. Despite a late rally attempt in the ninth, where the Knights loaded the bases, they ultimately could not execute, and dropped to 22-24 on the season.

Birmingham Barons 6, Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2
Pensacola took the lead in the bottom of the first, with Kemp Alderman’s two-run single off starter Riley Gowens putting them up 2-0 and scoring their only runs in the contest. Birmingham responded in the top of the third when Mario Camilletti, who walked, scored on a Jason Matthews double, narrowing the deficit to 2-1.
The Barons seized control in the top of the sixth, staging a four-run rally. Matthews knocked a ground-rule double, and William Bergolla tapped a soft bunt, leading up to Michael Turner’s single that tied the game. The inning kept rolling when errors by the Blue Wahoos’ defense allowed Bergolla to score, giving Birmingham a 3-2 lead. Then, red-hot Ryan Galanie’s single and Jacob Gonzalez’s sacrifice fly further extended their advantage to 4-2. They added another run in the seventh, with Matthews singling and swiping a bag, scoring on Bergolla’s base hit, making it 5-2.
Birmingham finalized their scoring in the top of the eighth on one of those off-the-wall plays. Galanie struck out but raced to first on a wild pitch, and then Jacob Gonzales’ single moved him to third. A balk by John White brought Galanie home, bringing the score to 6-2 and a victory for the Barons.
Gowens tossed five innings and settled in after the rough start. The Birmingham bullpen held the Blue Wahoos to only one hit through the last four frames.

Winston-Salem Dash 6, Hudson Valley Renegades 1
The Dash (13-27) rode strong pitching, timely hitting, and a big blast from Jeral Perez to a win over the Renegades. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Dash responded in a big way in the fourth inning. Alec Makarewicz led off the frame with a walk and advanced on a wild pitch. Jordan Sprinkle followed with a walk of his own, setting the stage for Samuel Zavala, who ripped an RBI single to center, scoring Makarewicz and tying the game. A fielding error in center allowed both Sprinkle and Zavala to move into scoring position, and Perez made the Renegades pay by crushing a three-run bomb to left, his 10th of the season, to give the Dash a 4-1 lead.
The Dash tacked on two insurance runs in the eighth. After Jackson Appel singled and stole two bases, Wes Kath grounded out to first, plating Appel to make it 5-1. Then, Sprinkle walked, stole second, and scored on Zavala’s second RBI single of the night, capping off the scoring at 6-1.
On the mound, the Dash bullpen was lights out. After starter Tanner McDougal held Hudson Valley in check with one tally through two frames, Luke Bell, Clete Hartzog, Madison Jeffrey, Aric McAtee, and Phil Fox combined to allow just three hits over the final seven innings.

Columbia Fireflies 8, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 1
Columbia hammered Kannapolis pitching to drop their season record to 21-19. The Fireflies wasted no time getting on the scoreboard off Kanny starter Ricardo Brizuela, with Asbel Gonzalez launching a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give Columbia an early 1-0 lead.
The Ballers quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning. After a single by Ryan Burrowes and a double by Caleb Bonemer, Lyle Miller-Green hit a sacrifice fly, plating Burrowes and tying the game at 1-1. Unfortunately, that would be the only tally on the night for Kannapolis as Columbia’s hurlers held the Ballers to only six hits.
The game remained a tight 1-1 affair until the top of the fifth inning when the Fireflies broke it open, putting up a four-spot against Brizuela and one off reliever Hale Sims. Columbia added two more in the seventh, putting the game away.

The ACL White Sox (6-6) secured their victory over the ACL Padres with a stellar pitching performance and well-timed hitting. The game remained a scoreless battle through the first three innings. The Sox finally broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth when Marcelo Ácala doubled, advanced to third on an error, and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Stiven Flores, giving them a 1-0 advantage.
The Sox extended their lead in the top of the seventh when D’Angelo Tejada drove in a run with a single, and then Grant Smith blasted a two-run homer to left, bringing the score to 4-0. The Sox pitchers combined for a dominant shutout, with Tommy Sheehan, Connor Housley, Vince Vannelle, Jeremy González, Marco Barrios, and Jake Curtis all contributing to stifle the Padres’ offense.

ACL White Sox 6, ACL Reds 3 (Monday, 7 innings)
The ACL White Sox took down the ACL Reds Monday night at Camelback Ranch, with some early offensive pressure and good pitching. Righthander Fabían Ysalla was in control from the start, tossing four innings of almost perfect ball. The 20-year-old surrendered just one walk and struck out six.
Stiven Flores led the offensive charge with two hits, two runs, and an RBI, including a first-inning double to open the scoring. Matt Hogan added a key RBI triple in the second and later scored on a wild pitch in the fifth as the Sox jumped to a 5-0 advantage. D’Angelo Tejada padded the lead with a solo bomb in the sixth. The Reds attempted to rally in the seventh by scoring three runs on a wild pitch, walk, and fielder’s choice, but Reudis Diaz, who has yet to give up a run over seven frames, came in to stop the bleeding and secure the win.
