Joe Ryan

The Minnesota Twins have an interesting offseason ahead of them as they must decide what to do with the future of their franchise to get back on track after a season in which they finished with a 70-92 record. The Twins were major sellers at the MLB Trade Deadline, and with that, it signals they view this 2026 offseason as one where they will rebuild.

For the Twins to do this successfully, they should be looking to trade Joe Ryan. If the Twins end up making Ryan available for a trade, the team that makes sense to trade for him is the Atlanta Braves.

Minnesota Twins Trade Joe Ryan to the Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves’ 2025 season didn’t go much better, the Braves ended up finishing with a 76-86 record and need to find a way to get back on track for the upcoming 2026 season. The Braves have the talent still to be contenders, but for them to accomplish this, they must look to upgrade their pitching for the upcoming season.

The pitching staff last season for Atlanta finished 22nd in ERA with 4.36, 20th in WHIP with 1.31, and 19th in opponent batting average allowed with .247. The entire staff struggled, but especially their top two aces in Spencer Strider and Bryce Elder, who never found a rhythm.

For Atlanta, they need to find another top pitcher that can lead the bullpen, and they can turn to trading for Joe Ryan to end up fixing this. Ryan is 29 years old, and is just coming off a season in which he had a 3.42 ERA with 194 strikeouts, 1.04 WHIP, and a 13-10 record.

By trading for a pitcher with the upside that Joe Ryan still has, and one that has shown consistency early on in his career, it would provide a spark that the Braves need to get back on track for 2026.
