LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Tyler Gough via a trade from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for right-handed pitcher Robinson Ortiz.

Gough, 22, was the #25 ranked prospect in the Seattle Mariners farm system. In 2025, the right-hander went 7-4 with a 4.33 ERA in 23 starts for the Low-A Modesto Nuts. He made 33 appearances in two seasons for the Seattle Mariners’ affiliate, posting a 4.66 ERA with 123 strikeouts in 125.1 innings.

The Southern California native was drafted in the ninth round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of JSerra High School.

Gough has had a history of arm injuries. In August of 2024, he underwent Tommy John surgery at the end of August. Despite the recent arm injury, his potential in his arsenal has yet to be tapped. He presents a low-90s fastball that moves down and away. He also displays an array of offspeed offerings, with his put-away pitch being his changeup, but he has also developed a niche sweeper.

Ortiz, 25, was selected on November 6. He went 5-2 with a 2.73 ERA in 48 games between High-A Great Lakes, Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City. He started the season with Great Lakes but was promoted to Double-A on June 17, and had a 1.69 ERA with a 3-0 record for the Drillers before getting promoted again on August 12.

He would finish the 2025 campaign with a 2.76 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 16.1 innings for the Comets. The southpaw has been with the organization six seasons, posting a 17-12 record with a 3.48 ERA and a 9.0 strikeout per inning ratio in 99 minor league games. He was signed as an international free agent on June 2, 2017, out of Peravia, Dominican Republic.
