Right-handed reliever Nick Sandlin has cleared waivers and elected free agency, the Toronto Blue Jays announced Monday morning.
Sandlin was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo and moved off the 40-player roster last week. The move puts Toronto’s 40-man at 37 players and opens up about $2 million in projected arbitration savings.
Sandlin joined the Jays along with infielder Andres Gimenez in a December 2024 trade. He missed time early on with a lat strain and had elbow inflammation later in the season, which eventually shut him down for the year.
In 19 games for the Jays in 2025, Sandlin had a 2.20 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 16.1 innings pitched.
Prior to his time in Toronto, the 28-year-old spent his first four big-league seasons with the Cleveland Guardians.
He owns a 3.19 ERA in 28 games across five MLB seasons.
