There are bound to be a few top suitors in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes this winter. The Chicago Cubs aren’t being looked at as a serious suitor because of Tucker’s expected contract.
But teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees could make a lot of sense. They’re two of the only teams in baseball that could afford to pay him over $350 million, as he’s expected to land.
CBS Sports’ Matt Snyder recently projected Tucker would sign a blockbuster 10-year, $425 million deal in free agency, which would eliminate many potential suitors this winter.

“My guess to start is 10 years and $350 million, which means it’ll continue to inch upward as negotiations progress (inch is a bad term there; maybe he foots or yards or miles upward?),” Snyder wrote. “We’ll go with $425 million over 10 years, possibly with some creative options pushing it to 12 years to spread out the money a little more. That would get him through his age-40 season.”
The San Francisco Giants make a lot of sense as a suitor, too. They need to close the gap on the Dodgers in the National League West, and signing a player like Tucker would certainly help.
The four teams mentioned are likely the top four suitors for Tucker, with a few dark-horse suitors also having a chance. But his free agency is only heating up. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him sign a $425 million deal by the end of the winter.
