MLB hardware has all been awarded so it’s time to stop looking back on the 2025 season and begin to look forward to 2026. We now know what the 2026 free agent class looks like, but we’re not sure who will just resign with their previous teams. We got a taste of that this past weekend when Josh Naylor resigned with the Seattle Mariners for five years and in the $90-100 million range according to Jeff Passan. The Mariners had publically announced that resigning him was a “Number One Priority” and they got it done quickly. It always seems to me that once the ice is broken on a deal or two, the majority fall into place. While Naylor’s far from the biggest catch in the free agent pool, his signing is important in setting the tone for other first basemen such as Pete Alonso who will be one of the biggest signings this year.
As it’s already been reported on A’s Nation, the Athletics have already signed Joey Menesas and Nick Anderson to minor league contracts, and resigned Austin Wynns to a one-year deal. The only free agents set to depart the team are:
Hall of Fame Ballot Announced
Yesterday, the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) released the nominees for induction in the Basebal Hall of Fame. Twelve new candidates join the fifteen holdovers from previous years hoping for election this coming January. Click here for the full story and the complete ballot.
