The Boston Red Sox are entering the offseason with momentum after making the MLB playoffs for the first time since 2021, finishing with an 89–73 record. Despite an early postseason exit in the AL wild card round against the New York Yankees, the Red Sox feature one of the strongest young cores in the league and have a bright future ahead.

Boston has remained active in free agency and continues to explore trade opportunities to strengthen the roster.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan on Tuesday , the Red Sox are likely to move either outfielder Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu to clear a path for left-handed slugger Roman Anthony to take over an everyday role in the outfield. The team is also reportedly interested in bringing back third baseman Alex Bregman, who opted out of his contract with Boston in early November.
