LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers added left-handed pitcher Ronan Kopp to the 40-man roster just before Tuesday’s deadline to set rosters ahead of the Rule 5 Draft. Teams across the MLB had until 3 p.m. PT Tuesday to add and protect eligible players before they could potentially enter the Rule 5 Draft taking place on December 10.

Kopp was drafted by Los Angeles back in 2021 in the 12th round of the First Year Player Draft out of South Mountain Community College (AZ). The 23-year-old southpaw pitched in 49 games last season, going 2-4 with a 3.43 ERA between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He started the season with the Drillers, posting a 2.53 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 32 innings, which subsequently led to his promotion on July 8, and he would finish his campaign with 41 strikeouts in 25.2 innings for the Comets. He has been with the Dodgers organization for five seasons, going 9-12 with a 3.25 ERA in 144 games and 381 punchouts.

Before Kopp was added before the deadline, the Dodgers had added outfielder Ryan Ward and southpaw Robinson Ortiz to the 40-man roster. Ortiz would later be traded to the Mariners on Sunday for pitching prospect Tyler Gough.

With Kopp taking the place of Ortiz, the Dodgers still have one more roster spot to fill, as they are currently sitting at 39/40 players on their available roster.
