The first big free agent, in some ways, the biggest free agent.
Is off the board.
Josh Naylor, that delightfully, Uh, bowling-ball-shaped, high energy, expressive.
First baseman from the Seattle Mariners is returning to the Pacific Northwest on a 5 Year $92.5 million contract nailer, spent most of his career, I would say the bulk of it is in Cleveland, originally drafted by the Miami Marlins, Traded to the Padres, then to Cleveland.
Dealt to Arizona last winter, the first half of the year was in Arizona, Sent to Seattle at the deadline, made quite an impact both culturally and on the field with His bat.

He sticks around in Seattle for the long haul, as the Mariners.
Get going in free agency before everyone else has a chance to make their move.
How about that?
How about the Seattle Mariners spending some Dough.
Uh, this is a, a, anot a small contract here.
The largest free-agent contract for a hitter since that of Robinson Can Fella.
Oh, he had an interesting weekend.
Maybe we’ll talk about that later this week.
Um, the Mariners were not shy about their intentions of bringing back Josh Naylor.
Essentially, I mean, it honestly extends back, even during the season.
Of course, the fans have been very good.

Uh, adamant that he needed to stay.
And, and I’ll be honest, Like, as I watched Josh Naylor’s second half and into the postseason, And everyone’s like, he’s got to stay, he’s got like, listen, The Mariners are still playing.
He’s helping out.
Who knows what happens in the off-season.
Just enjoy any rental you have to qualify for Just like, Just enjoy it while it’s lasting.
And yet, when you talk to the people around the team, and when you just listen to Josh Naylor Talk about his experience; yes, you know, you hear it often.
Oh, I love it here!
This is so great.
This really did seem to reach new levels, and yes, A lot of that had to do with how well he was playing, and how well the team was playing.

And it all just seemed to, to click, but it seemed genuine.
I think when you consider Josh Naylor’s career, you kind of flew through it there, Understandably.
This dude was traded four times, four times before.
Turning 28, um, and before turning 30.
Part of this contract includes a no-trade clause.
That is not a minor issue.
For a player who plays for the team that is managed by Jerry Dipoto.
But also, you can imagine Josh Naylor; he just wanted to go and be somewhere that appreciates him for what he’s about and what he brings on and off the field.
And I think even in a few months, the Mariners absolutely felt that.

And we can talk about whether this is an overpay, overpay, like what is it, But I think, in that sense, all of this is a totally logical outcome.
Uh, for both sides, I think it’s a pretty good.
