The San Francisco Giants are seemingly one of the top teams in the National League, but they’re multiple steps behind the rival Los Angeles Dodgers. To make matters worse, their pitching staff is as shallow as any staff in the league.

If the Giants want to continue to build their roster, it starts with the pitching staff. They need to hit the free agency market very hard this winter. There are a few pitchers who could fit the Giants very well.

FanSided’s Chris Landers recently predicted the Giants would sign Philadelphia Phillies All-Star Ranger Suárez in free agency this winter, which would be a huge move in the right direction. Suárez is projected to sign a massive $164 million deal, per Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

“Like, for example, San Francisco,” Landers wrote. “The Giants could sure use another starter behind Logan Webb and Robbie Ray, and I think their desperation to get back to the postseason in 2026 makes them the best bet to go whole hog for someone like Suarez — whose shorter track record might scare some other suitors away. Plus, a ground-ball pitcher could do a lot worse than an infield including both Willy Adames and Matt Chapman.”

Suárez would be a huge addition at the top of the Giants’ rotation.

San Francisco seemingly has the money to make one of two big signings this winter. That means they could pursue a pitcher like Suárez on a five or six-year contract worth around $140 million to $150 million.

Suárez has been one of the best pitchers in the National League for a few years. Adding him to a loaded roster like the Giants could take the team to the next level moving forward.
