The Red Sox traded pitcher Luis Guerrero to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday for infielder Tristan Gray, and designated first baseman Nathaniel Lowe for assignment in a corresponding roster move.

The moves came in advance of the deadline across Major League Baseball to add players eligible for the Rule 5 draft in December to 40-man rosters.

Guerrero will head to the Red Sox’s American League East rival after going 0-1 with a 2.63 ERA in 22 appearances out of Boston’s bullpen over the last two seasons.

Lowe, who won the American League Silver Slugger Award in 2022 with the Texas Rangers, and the AL Gold Glove Award in 2023, played only 37 games for the Red Sox in 2025 after being acquired in a midseason trade with the Washington Nationals.
