As the Boston Red Sox navigate the offseason, the team has a real ogjam in the outfield. This could see the front office look to make some moves to free up space across the roster.
One player that has been dangled in different trade talks for a while now is veteran Jarren Duran. Duran drew a ton of interest at the trade deadline last summer, but the Red Sox decided to hold onto him for the stretch run.
But many across baseball believe that Boston could look to rekindle those trade talks this offseason, and potentially move the slugger. Duran’s value is as high as it has been right now, so the Red Sox could look to take advantage of that fact on the trade front.
The outfielder appeared in 157 games during the regular season for the Red Sox, and he was a major reason why they reached the postseason., Overall, hit .256 with 16 home runs and 84 runs batted in, further increasing his market across the league.
Duran still has two more years of team control following the upcoming 2026 season, giving even more thought to the Red Sox moving him. The outfielder is scheduled to make $7.7 million this season after he avoided arbitration with Boston earlier in the offseason.
Boston will have plenty of suitors for Duran on the trade market, but whether they move him or not remains to be seen. The Red Sox want to be competitive again next year, and unless they get a deal that they deem worthy, Duran could always return to Boston.
This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Jarren Duran Sent Over to Kansas City Royals
One team that seems to be directly involved in the sweepstakes to land Duran from Boston is the Kansas City Royals. Kansas City has reportedly been looking for outfield help this winter, and Duran could be one of the best names for them to consider going after.
The Royals took a big step back in overall contention this past year, and it saw them miss the playoffs. Kansas City had been building out a nice roster, and now they need major outfield help this offseason.
While the Royals have been spending a little more in free agency over the past few years, the team also likely won’t open the checkbooks completely to add talent. This could see the front office look to make a trade, and Duran could be the perfect option.
Putting his bat into the Royals lineup could make them more dynamic, and they would likely get back to being competitive in the American League Central. Duran wouldn’t solve all the problems that Kansas City has, but he could easily help fill in the gaps across the roster.
