Veteran outfielder Cody Bellinger is entering free agency once again, and he is expected to be one of the hottest names across the league. Bellinger spent last season with the New York Yankees, and he put together one of the strongest seasons of his career.
While with the Yankees, Bellinger showed major improvement at the plate, namely with his discipline. Early on in his career, strikeouts were a real problem for the outfielder, and it cost him in his numbers.
But now, Bellinger is one of the tougher players to strike out, and this could bode well in his contract negotiations. This past year, Bellinger had a career-low strikeout rate, posting just a 13.7 percent clip.
Playing in Yankee Stadium as a left-handed hitter, Bellinger thrived with the short porch, giving him an extra push in his overall year. For the season, Bellinger slashed .272/.334/.480 with 29 homers, which were the most for him since 2019.
Many people tend to forget that Bellinger is a former league MVP, and he remains one of the more consistent hitters in the league. This should help him in free agency, and there are multiple teams that are already showing interest in signing him.
It remains to be seen where Bellinger will land, but it does seem like the Yankees will make a hard push to bring him back. But New York will have some real competition to keep him, and it will all be dependent on the type of contract they offer him.
This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Cody Bellinger Will Return to Los Angeles Dodgers
One team that has surprisingly shown interest in Bellinger this offseason is his former club, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bellinger was drafted by the Dodgers and won his MVP award with them in 2019.
Los Angeles is coming off a second straight World Series title, and the team is now looking to shore up holes across the roster. One area that the Dodgers need help with is in the outfield, so Bellinger does make sense for them.
The Dodgers could also use his offensive production, especially his clutch hitting. Even with the team winning the World Series, the offense was fairly poor in the playoffs, and the front office is now looking to fix this.
Putting him into the already stacked lineup that the Dodgers have would be special, and Bellkinger could thrive playing with the other stars. His numbers would likely jump up, and this would be a true homecoming for the veteran outfielder.
The two sides enjoyed each other while they were together, but his trikout problem was too much for the Dodgers to handle. But now that he has figured something out, it seems that a reunion could potentially be taking place this winter.
