After a stretch of disappointing series dating back to early May, the Brewers have bounced back in a big way the last few days, winning three straight against the Twins and Orioles.
With this mini win streak, the Brewers are now just a win away from their first sweep of the season, as they’ll look to take down the Baltimore Orioles and Tomoyuki Sugano.
Sugano, 35, is a rookie out of Japan and one of the few bright spots for Baltimore this season. Through nine starts, he’s 4-3 with a 3.08 ERA and 29 strikeouts spanning 52 2⁄3 innings.
Matching up with Sugano is Milwaukee’s own rookie, Chad Patrick. Patrick, 26, was a fourth-round pick by the Diamondbacks in 2021 and has been impressive through 10 appearances (nine starts) this year, sporting a 3.35 ERA, 3.65 FIP, and 38 strikeouts over 48 1⁄3 innings. He’s had some bad luck as of late, losing four of his last five decisions despite allowing three runs or fewer in each game.
The lineup features Brice Turang, Jackson Chourio, and Christian Yelich at the top, followed by Rhys Hoskins, Sal Frelick, and Eric Haase, who will be catching in place of William Contreras, who gets the day off. Jake Bauers bats seventh and starts in left, with Caleb Durbin and Joey Ortiz rounding out the order.
First pitch is at 12:10 p.m. on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network. It will also be available on MLB Network and MLB.TV for out-of-network viewers.
