KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A former Kansas City Royals star will celebrate the official launch of legal sports betting in Missouri by placing the state’s ceremonial first wager.
Ameristar Kansas City and Fanatics Betting and Gaming announced that Royals Hall-of-Fame left fielder Alex Gordon will be at Ameristar Casino on Monday, Dec. 1.
That day, legal sports wagering will begin in the state and at the soon-to-open Fanatics Sportsbook, which will be located at Ameristar Casino on 43200 North Ameristar Drive, Kansas City, MO 64161.
The newly-designed sportsbook portion of the casino is 2,000 square feet and features three betting windows, 12 self-service betting kiosks, 10 TV monitors and a giant LED video wall.
Interested bettors were allowed to begin pre-registering on Nov. 17.
It will be open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. CT.
Gordon’s ceremonial first wager will be placed Monday afternoon. The odds of the 2015 World Series champion placing a wager related to his former team seem likely, but the exact bet remains to be seen.
