The Rogers Centre is set to host the exciting mid-week matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the San Diego Padres on Wednesday in MLB regular season action. The Blue Jays headed into the week coming off of a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers to close out the previous week of action. Toronto received a visit from Detroit at the Rogers Centre on Friday night for game one of the series, where the Tigers came away with a narrow 5-4 victory over the Blue Jays. Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Daulton Varsho and Addison Barger all scored runs in the loss at home for Toronto. Bowden Francis got the start on the mound for the Blue Jays, with the pitcher going for just under five innings and giving up four runs and eight hits to go along with his six strikeouts in that span.

The Blue Jays were then able to bounce back to take Game 2 in a narrow 2-1 finish at the Rogers Centre on Saturday.

Varsho and Ernie Clement crossed home plate to secure the dramatic win at home, which included runs in the bottom of both the eighth and ninth innings.

Eric Lauer started for Toronto in the second game of the series, going for three innings and giving up Detroit’s lone run to go along with five strikeouts.

Finally, the Blue Jays lost 3-2 to close out the series in Game 3 at the Rogers Centre on Sunday.
