2025 Milwaukee Brewers player grades

Here are our Milwaukee Brewers player grades for 2025, based on analysis by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Brewers beat writers Todd Rosiak and Curt Hogg.

The Milwaukee Brewers tendered contracts to all seven of their arbitration-eligible players.First baseman-outfielder Jake Bauers agreed to a one-year, $2.7 million contract with the team.Six other players, including William Contreras and Andrew Vaughn, did not reach deals and are headed for arbitration.

The deadline to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players came and went on Friday, Nov. 21, with no surprises by the Milwaukee Brewers.

In all, seven players fit that designation with the Brewers ultimately coming to terms with first baseman-outfielder Jake Bauers on a one-year contract worth a reported $2.7 million.

Catcher William Contreras, first baseman Andrew Vaughn, second baseman Brice Turang, outfielder Garrett Mitchell and right-handers Nick Mears and Trevor Megill, meanwhile, failed to reach deals with Milwaukee, leaving the two sides headed for arbitration with the distinct possibility most – if not all – will ultimately come to agreements with the team before a hearing in February.

The sides have until mid-January to exchange proposed salary figures if they can’t come to an agreement before then.

Of this group, Contreras is expected to make the largest jump salary-wise, with a projection of $11.1 million for 2026, while Vaughn is projected to receive around $7.8 million after reviving his career this past season.

Contreras’ case is slightly interesting in that the Brewers declined to exercise a $12 million option for 2026 on Nov. 3, instead choosing to pay him a $100,000 buyout with the belief they ultimately sign him for less.

Turang, a Super 2 or top service-time earner among players with fewer than three years of service time, comes in next on the list with a projected salary of $4.4 million and Megill, an all-star closer in 2025, at $4.2 million.
