The San Francisco Giants are eager to reinforce the outfield.
The Giants announced on the 22nd (Korea Standard Time) that they will recruit outfielder Joey Wimmer (26) through a cash trade from the Miami Marlins.
Wimmer has played 180 games for the Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, and Miami over the past three years in the Major League, with a batting average of 0.205 on-base percentage of 0.279 slugging percentage of 0.359.

He had a batting average of 0.255 OPS of 0.779 against the left-hander, which was better than when he faced the right-hander (0.178/0.559).
The more prominent part was the defense. He showed good defensive skills by recording a total of DRS (Defensive Runs Saved) +11 and OAA (Out of Above Average) +7.
He can play all three positions in right field (37 games), left field (18 games) and center field (123 games).
San Francisco, where the entire outfield was OAA-18 last season, recruited Justin Dean, who contributed to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series victory, and then recruited another outfielder with good defensive skills.
With Wimmer’s addition, San Francisco has 10 outfielders, including Lee Jung-hoo. Traffic arrangements for existing players are inevitable.

Meanwhile, San Francisco waived catcher Andrew Kezner after transferring him to make Wimmer’s place on the 40-man list.
Kezner joined the team during the last season and played 33 games as a backup catcher with a batting average of 0.221 on-base percentage of 0.299 slugging percentage and a 22.2% stolen base percentage in defense.
They also released left-hander Joey Luqueisi as a non-tender. Lucais played 38 1/3 innings in 38 games last season with a 3.76 ERA.
