MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Two New Hampshire women have been drafted to the women’s pro baseball league, and one of them doesn’t have to travel very far.
“Being drafted into the field means the world to me, it is such an honor,” said Maggie Foxx.
“It’s something that we all dreamed about when we were a little kid,” said Beth Greenwood.
New Hampshire is represented in the big leagues.
Beford’s Foxx and Amherst’s Greenwood are heading to the women’s pro baseball league after being drafted.
“It just means a lot to me,” Foxx said. “It shows to me personally, all of the hard work that I’ve put in — that everyone around me has put in.”

Foxx was the first girl in the state to play on a baseball team. She played for Brown University this spring, making nine starts in 22 games.
Greenwood will stay right here in New England. She was drafted Thursday night by Boston.
“I just want to make sure I got drafted,” Greenwood said. “I think that’s the important part, but I do think you know, as an East Coast kid, especially from New Hampshire. I was hoping Boston was going to be it.”
The Souhegan High School grad made history as the first woman to catch for an NCAA baseball team.
Both Foxx and Greenwood became friends years ago when they were both in New Hampshire, and are cheering each other on during the road to the big leagues.
“Yes, Beth Greenwood drafted by Boston, I texted her last night,” Foxx said.
“Maggie was just 12 years old, and I remember I went and watched one of her little league games, and from that moment on, she’s been my little sister,” Greenwood said.
