2025 WAC Baseball Release – NCAA Regionals

UTAH VALLEY ROLLS THROUGH WAC TOURNAMENT UNDEFEATED

No. 3 seed Utah Valley capped an undefeated 2025 University Credit Union WAC Baseball Tournament run with an 11-9 comeback win over No. 2 seed Abilene Christian on May 24 at Hohokam Stadium. The Wolverines were the first undefeated tournament winner at the WAC tournament since 2022, batting .338 as a team and outscoring the opposition 40-18 for the week. The Wolverines also combined to throw the first no-hitter in WAC tournament history during the semifinal round against Sacramento State.

UVU BACK IN NCAA REGIONALS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2016

Utah Valley returns to NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2016 in search of its first win in NCAA Championship play. WAC programs have won a combined 197 games in the NCAA Baseball Championship. Arizona (1963, 1966, 1970, 1976 National Champion), Arizona State (1964, 1965 National Champion, 1967 National Champion, 1969 National Champion, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977 National Champion, 1978), Brigham Young (1968, 1971), Hawai’I (1980), Rice (1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 National Champion) and Fresno State (2008 National Champion) have previously represented the WAC at the College World Series.

STRONG THE MOST VALUABLE ALL WEEK LONG IN MESA

Utah Valley catcher Mason Strong was named WAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after batting .550 with two home runs, seven RBIs, three stolen bases and seven runs scored along with catching a combined no-hitter across four games. Joining Strong on the WAC All-Tournament Team from Utah Valley was CJ Colyer, Colton Kennedy, Corbin Kirk, Dominic Longo II and Jayden Smith.

CBU’S DUMESNIL NAMED WAC POTY

California Baptist’s Nick Dumesnil was named the 2025 WAC Player of the Year, Sacramento State’s Evan Gibbons was voted WAC Pitcher of the Year, California Baptist’s Chris Ramirez claimed both WAC Defensive Player and Freshman of the Year accolades and Sacramento State skipper Reggie Christiansen earned his third career WAC Coach of the Year honor. Regular season co-champion Sacramento State led all teams with five total players (four first team) included on WAC all-conference teams. California Baptist saw three players included on the first team, while conference co-champion Abilene Christian and Utah Valley each had two players named to the league’s first team.
