Acquired in the JT Brubaker trade, Keiner Delgado wrapped up his second season in the Pirates’ organization, playing for High-A Greensboro. Delgado provides quite the punch for someone with his frame, one of the few hitters in the system with double-digit home runs and stolen bases.

Despite playing for Greensboro, his home/road splits remained close (8 HR at home, 6 on the road), but there was a split that stood out much more.

Delgado, 21, a switch-hitter, slashed .165/.267/.165 against left-handed pitching, not hitting for a single extra base hit. Compared to facing righties, where he hit .261/.392/.441 with all 33 of his extra base hits coming while hitting left-handed.

Another prospect in the system, Jesus Castillo, made the move from switch-hitting to only being a righty in 2025, something that may benefit Delgado as well, but instead hitting only left-handed.

Delgado will enter the 2026 season, likely at Double-A Altoona, at 22. He’s capable of playing all over the infield, which gives him some appeal as a potential bench player with his speed, defensive versatility, and sneaky pop.

He’ll have to hit more against lefties (if he sticks as a switch-hitter) or show that he can adjust to hitting only left-handed to take that next step.Â
