Right-handed pitcher Nick Burdi, who made four scoreless appearances for the Boston Red Sox in 2025, has signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets.

Burdi, 32, is 3-2 with a 5.34 ERA in 35 career relief appearances. Burdi has pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2018-20), Chicago Cubs (2023), New York Yankees (2024) and Red Sox (2025) in parts of six major league seasons.

A former second-round pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2014 MLB draft, Burdi has also pitched in the San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies organizations.

Burdi spent the majority of the 2025 season with Triple-A Worcester. He went 4-0 with a 2.83 ERA in 31 appearances out of the bullpen for the Red Sox’s top farm team. He allowed only 28 hits, 16 walks, and struck out 45 in 35 innings while holding opponents to a .214 batting average.

Burdi missed all of June and most of July 2025 with a hip injury. Despite his early-season success, he didn’t return to the big leagues after the injury, and finished the season at Worcester.
