Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani announced this week that he’ll be participating in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, representing his home country of Japan. At this time, it’s currently unclear whether he plans to pitch and hit in the tournament, or just hit.

In other news, New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner admitted he was concerned with the Dodgers potentially continuing to win and pulling away from the rest of the league.

“Of course it’s a concern,” Steinbrenner said. “The (Dodgers) have tremendous resources, and they’ve gotten the job done. That’s the big thing. They’ve played to their potential when they needed to. They have overcome a lot of injuries this year. Again, they got healthy at the right time. I don’t know what next year is going to bring. But of course it’s always a concern any time I feel that one team is pulling away from the other 29, (or) selfishly, pulling away from me.”

Finally, the Dodgers have been linked to a potential reunion with All-Star closer Kenley Jansen, who’s a free agent after a solid season with the Los Angeles Angels.

Shohei Ohtani doesn’t do much talking after but he stands on business when he or his teammates get disrespected.
