One of the better infielders around baseball is now rumored to be on the trade block as we get more into the MLB offseason. That would be veteran Ketal Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who could be on the move this winter.
This past season, Marte continued his excellence, hitting .283 with 28 home runs and 72 runs batted in. Marte has been one of the better infielders in the sport for some time now, and he has been subject to trade rumors for a while now.
With the Diamondbacks potentially entering a somewhat of a rebuild, the team may look to move him to gain some additional assets for the future. Arizona will be holding a very high asking price for the star infielder, and whatever team does trade for him will need to pay a hefty price for his services.
Marte is under team control for four more seasons, and he also has a player option in the final year of his current deal. So any team that would be trading for him would likely be expecting to have him around for years to come.
How the Diamondbacks go about this Marte situation remains to be seen, but with all the noise around a potential deal, it could be tough to bring him back to the roster. But Arizona has done this for years, even if this time around, it does feel like Marte could be heading elsewhere over the offseason.

One team that has been rumored in the different rumors around Marte is the Cincinnati Reds. Cincinnati needs to improve its offense this winter, and bringing in an All-Star like Marte could make a massive difference.
The Reds did make the playoffs this past season, but they were quickly eliminated in the wild-card round. If they could add someone like Marte to the lineup, it would give this team more relevance across the board, and they would be more feared.
Cincinnati has multiple options that they could send to the Diamondbacks for Marte, especially with the need from Arizona for pitching help. While the Reds aren’t likely to send starter Hunter Greene out, either Andrew Abbott or Nick Lodolo could make sense.
The Diamondbacks desperately need help in their rotation, and adding one of the Reds’ starters could help things. The two sides seem like a strong match this offseason, and this could be a real win-win of a move.
Cincinnati prefers to make trades to improve the team, rather than going out to spend a large amount in free agency, so this could be a possibility. But the Reds have to do something to address the offensive issues on this team, and Marte could be one of the better players that they could acquire this offseason.
