Ketel Marte

The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming off a season that wasn’t horrible, but one that saw them finish the season below .500 with an 80-82 record. The Diamondbacks now enter the 2026 MLB offseason with the goal in mind to restructure the team a bot, and one of those rumored moves is trading Ketel Marte.

At 32 years old, Ketel Marte presents the Diamondbacks the best chance to do a soft team reset without going through a full rebuild due to the young talent he’d be Abel to get Arizona in return. With Marte coming off a season in which he had a .283/.376/.517 with 28 home runs, 72 RBIs, and an .893 OPS, he has shown his play is staying consistent to provide a team with impactful play.

With Ketel Marte’s switch-hitting ability, there is one contending team that can utilize his skills, and that is the Philadelphia Phillies.

Arizona Diamondbacks Trade Ketel Marte to the Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies had a strong 2025 season, finishing with a 96-66 record that led to them being the second best team in the National League. While this was the case, it didn’t get them too far in the playoffs, as they were eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Divisional Series. With this being the second season in a row where they only made it to the NLDS, it is clear they need modifications with their roster.

If the Phillies are going to take the next steps as a team, while surrounding Bryce Harper with more talent in the lineup, they need to trade for Ketel Marte. By trading for Marte, he would provide the Diamondbacks with a clear upgrade at second base over Bryson Stott.

Between the power, and on-base ability that Ketel Marte provides, he is the extra spark that Philadelphia needs to add this offseason if they want any chance of fully contending in. 2026.
