Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ deserves some credit for his consistency in this organization over the past few years. Although Cubs fans were very frustrated with Happ during a large portion of the 2025 season, the 31-year-old finished with very similar numbers as the prior years.
Happ has hit over 20 home runs, driven in over 75 runs, walked at least 80 times, scored at least 85 runs, and hit over .240 at the plate in three consecutive seasons. In 2025, he hit .243 with 23 home runs and 79 RBI across 150 games.

With four straight seasons of finishing with at least a 3.5 WAR, there hasn’t been a more consistent player in Chicago since 2022. You know what you’re getting out of Happ every single season.
On top of that, Happ has emerged as one of the best left field defenders in the Major Leagues. He has won a Gold Glove for his play in left field in four consecutive campaigns and was a large reason why the Cubs were one of the best defensive teams in baseball in 2025.
Now, Happ will go through his slumps throughout the year. And it can be hard to watch him at the plate when he goes through those rough offensive stretches.
That was the case in the middle part of the 2025 season when Happ came off the injured list. From May 20 to July 27, he hit a mere .194 with 11 home runs, 30 RBI, and 62 strikeouts across 56 games.

However, Happ eventually got into a groove toward the end of the season, slashing .276/.376/.500 across the final 55 games of the year. He also hit nine home runs, 16 doubles, and drove in 30 runs during this stretch.
It isn’t always the prettiest for Happ, but Cubs fans can’t ignore how important he has been to the organization over the past four seasons. He takes his walks when he needs to, and his xwOBA always ranks toward the top of the league.
The nine-year veteran should continue to be an important part of this Cubs team in 2026. He’ll hit toward the top of the order and will likely finish with his usual offensive numbers. Happ will hit over 20 home runs, drive in 75 runs, and finish with an above-average walk rate.
Those are solid numbers for a player who will also play Gold Glove defense in left field. Fans should appreciate Happ’s consistency in recent years.
