While the Milwaukee Brewers have some lofty goals ahead of them before the 2026 MLB season starts, they’ll be making a list of wants and checking it twice, if you will, in Orlando, Fla.

Why Orlando? That’s where the MLB Winter Meetings will take place in early December. Brewers general manager Matt Arnold has done one whale of a job in getting the Brewers’ roster aligned for success.

Milwaukee won an MLB-best 97 games in 2025 and reached the National League Championship Series before losing in four straight games to eventual, repeating World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Brewers had a lot of positives last season, including some incredible pitching performances from Freddy Peralta.

But the Brewers’ front office has to get their house in order.

What type of street cred does Arnold bring to his role? Consider this: Arnold was named 2024 MLB Executive of the Year and was the first Brewers executive to ever pick up the honor. Arnold was also named 2024 MLB Executive of the Year by Baseball America and The Sporting News.

He helped shape a Brewers team that won 93 games and finished in first place in the National League Central Division in 2024. The Brewers repeated the trick in 2025 by winning the NL Central once again under the leadership of manager Pat Murphy.

Arnold has now been with the Brewers’ organization for 10 seasons. In that time, Milwaukee has earned seven postseason berths (2018-21, 2023-25) and five NL Central Division titles (2018, 2021, 2023-25).

So, Arnold knows what he is doing.

Recently, an article from The Athletic pointed out that Milwaukee might look at getting infielder Willi Castro for the team.

“The thing about the 97-win Brewers is they have strong pitching depth and a position-player group without obvious holes,” The Athletic article indicated. “Yes, it would be nice to upgrade at shortstop over Joey Ortiz, whose hitting took a plunge in 2025, but I don’t suspect the team will be absorbing Corey Seager’s salary any time soon.

“Any significant upgrades to the roster would likely come through the return package if — and that remains a big ‘if’ — the front office decides to move starter Freddy Peralta. Even if the team stands pat, the future looks bright,” according to the article.

Would Milwaukee consider packaging Peralto in a deal for some help? That’s another thing Brewers fans will have to watch out for at the Winter Meetings.

As far as many of the top free agents on the market right now, a lot of them are not picked to be headed in Milwaukee’s direction. That doesn’t mean a deal for a need won’t happen, though.

Because Arnold has earned a solid rep in the MLB world, producing big-time results on the field for Milwaukee, don’t be surprised if the Brewers make some noise at the Winter Meetings. Maybe it might be a few days after they take place, too.

Be patient, Brewers fans.
