The Los Angeles Dodgers are attempting to three-peat the World Series in 2026, but what if I told you they need to add Cody Bellinger in order to do so?
Obviously the Dodgers are stacked with the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and others, but they are the oldest roster in the MLB and they’re not getting younger.
Cody Bellinger is currently projected to receive the third highest contract in the 2025 MLB Free Agency class at 6 years, $165 million ($27.5M AAV), but this surely wouldn’t be a problem for Los Angeles.
Here’s why the Dodgers realistically could steal Cody Bellinger away from the New York Yankees.
This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Cody Bellinger Signs With the Los Angeles Dodgers
Cody Bellinger has been rumored to be leaving New York all offseason, and even a little more fuel to the fire is how he changed his Instagram profile to no longer a photo of him with the Yankees.
In 2025, Bellinger played 152 games and slashed an average of .272 with 160 hits, 29 home runs, 98 RBIs, and 89 runs scored. His on-base percentage was .334 and his slugging percentage .480, resulting in an OPS of .813.
As for his ranking in Major League Baseball (American League) in 2025: his .272 batting average ranked tied for 39th in the league. His 29 homers placed him tied for 20th, while his 98 RBIs ranked 8th. His slugging percentage (.480) was 16th in the AL, and his OPS (.813) ranked 17th.
Bellinger’s 2025 season was the first where he played true left field, and he thrived there showing the capabilities to play every spot. In 152 games he played 85 in left field, 41 in centerfield, and 52 in right field.
The Dodgers’ outfield remains unsettled outside of Teoscar Hernández, who has locked down right field with his power and strong arm. However, Hernández isn’t a long-term youth solution — he’s already in his 30s — and Los Angeles still doesn’t have a true left fielder or a dependable secondary option in center.
Andy Pages has the potential to develop into one of those roles, but the Dodgers can’t rely on him alone to stabilize the outfield picture. That’s where Cody Bellinger could become invaluable.
If this doesn’t pan out, the Dodgers could always call the Cleveland Guardians for Steven Kwan who would be a perfect fit.
