The speculation surrounding where Devin Williams will sign ahead of the 2026 MLB season remains one of the top storylines. For Williams, when he came to New York before last season, the hopes were high for him considering he had a 1.83 career ERA.
The season didn’t go as planned for him, as instead of him building on his career, the season instead diminished his value a bit. In a season where he had a 4.79 ERA, and lost the closer’s job for a bit, him now hitting free agency comes at a bad time for Williams. Under the surface, he did have a 3.09 xERA, showing his season wasn’t as bad as it looks.
With his upside, there will still be teams that will be looking to sign Devin Williams in free agency, and one that makes sense to sign him is the Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta Braves Sign Devin Williams in 2026 MLB Free AgencyÂ
The Braves’ bullpen wasn’t as bad as some of the other teams on this list but they still weren’t great. Atlanta relievers were 19th in MLB with a combined 4.19 ERA and also had 55 strikeouts, a 9.1% walk rate, which was 14th, and a hard hit rate of 39.4%, which also ranked 14th.
While they re-signed Raisel Iglesias they need to be looking to advance their relief pitching further if they are going to get back on track as a team. How they can do so is to sign Devin Williams.
In doing so, the Braves would be getting an ideal relief pitcher to pair alongside Iglesias, and someone that still has immense upside, and potential at the MLB level.
If the Braves can sign Devin Williams who has still shown elite strikeout ability, having a strikeout rate of 34.7% in 2025 which ranked in the 97th percentile, and having managed to cut down his walk rate to 9.7% in 2025, he has showcased the ability to still be a quality reliever, and that talent is what the Braves need to get back on track as a contending team.
