For some odd reason, it feels like former Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman’s market isn’t what it should be.

Bregman is arguably the best player on this free agency market outside of another Astros player, Kyle Tucker, but some seem to have others ranked ahead of him.

Will Laws of Sports Illustrated has him as the fourth-best player available, and that isn’t necessarily unfair, but it might be a tad wrong due to what Bregman has done throughout his entire career.

Regardless, Laws believes he has an obvious fit back in Boston. He predicted that would be the case, suggesting the former Astros slugger will head back to the Red Sox.

“Bregman opted out of his contract just one year into his three-year, $120 million deal in Boston. A quad injury cost him about a month-and-a-half in the middle of the year, but he was otherwise productive at the plate after a relatively down 2024 campaign. Bregman’s approach is sound, with minimal swing-and-miss and a good command of the strike zone, and his defense remains at least solid at the hot corner, so it seems likely he’ll get four- or five-year offers from teams this time around,” he wrote.

Bregman stated a few times during his season with the Red Sox that he’d be willing to return to Boston. The Red Sox are in a very good spot to contend in the near future, too, so just as he did with Houston, he should have a chance to compete at a very high level.
