The Minnesota Twins are in a bit of a tough spot.
The AL Central finds a way to be formidable every season despite the teams in it not always being baseball’s biggest spenders. The Twins certainly aren’t on a list of biggest spenders, either.
That leads Minnesota to often compete for similar free agents that teams like the Guardians and Royals are also going after.
But in the end, the Twins usually wind up with at least a couple guys who they are seeking each winter.

One guy that could fit that bill this offseason is Rhys Hoskins, the former Brewers and Phillies first baseman who has 186 home runs in his MLB career. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand has matched him as a signing with the Twins in a new article of projected landing spots.
“The Twins could use an upgrade at first base and a right-handed power bat, making Hoskins an ideal fit,” Feinsand writes. “He’s entering his age-33 season and played in only 90 games in 2025, but the veteran is only one year removed from a 26-homer season for the Brewers, a total he reached or exceeded in each of his five full seasons prior to last year.”

When you’re at the Twins’ level of spending, need does become the most important focus, and as Feinsand writes, Hoskins fills a need, or two.
His market likely won’t be crazy in free agency, but because he’s a relatively proven contributor who won’t cost too much, Hoskins will certainly be pursued by multiple teams.
If he liked his time in the Midwest in Milwaukee, it could make sense to join the Twins and embrace a similar lifestyle while trying to help another team in a central division make some noise.
