HARRISBURG, Ark. (KAIT) – Harrisburg’s baseball field will receive upgrades including ADA-compliant sidewalks, new bleachers, and pitcher’s mound improvements through a rural community grant.
Mayor Justin Kimble said the upgrades have been needed for years and will benefit both the city and local school district, which uses the municipal field.
“I’m excited cause these upgrades have been needed for years. I’m very excited, the school is excited,” Kimble said. “We have a unique situation here in Harrisburg where the school uses the city fields and it works out great.”
The city plans to complete the upgrades before baseball season begins, though weather conditions may affect the timeline.
“We’re going to try to hit them, we’re going to try to do it before the spring season starts. However, with weather, we don’t know we’re going to try to do it before the spring season starts, at least the pitcher’s mound,” Kimble said.
The field also received a new sign donated by Lacy’s Welding and Construction. Kimble said players are excited about the planned improvements.
