When veteran right-hander Walker Buehler joined the Boston Red Sox last offseason, there was a lot of hope around the signing. Buehler was coming off a strong performance in the playoffs, and Boston was gearing up to add one of the better clutch pitchers in baseball.

However, things went completely off the rails for the right-hander in Boston, and he was eventually cut from the team. Buehler made 23 appearances for the Red Sox, putting up an ERA of 5.45 over 112.1 innings of work.

After his release, the veteran joined the Philadelphia Phillies for the stretch run of the season. During his time in Philadelphia, Buehler looked much more like himself, even with just a small sample size.

In 13.2 innings with the Phillies, he posted an ERA of 0.66, but he didn’t get a chance to pitch for the team in the playoffs. With Buehler back in free agency now, teams will need to do a cost-benefit evaluation of the right-hander.

Even with his struggles in Boston, there is still a lot to like about Buehler, and it could see some team look to take a chance on him. If anything, Beuhler could be a depth signing, and he is likely to sign another one-year “prove-it” type of contract.

With all the starting pitching needs around the league, Bieherl could be one of the better low-risk moves for a team to take. However, where the veteran lands remains to be seen, and he will likely have to wait to see how the rest of the free agency market shakes out.

This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Walker Buehler Returns to Los Angeles Dodgers

As Buehler tries to find a home for the 2026 season, one option could be to return to his old stomping grounds, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Even with the Dodgers not in need of starting pitching help, Bueher could offer them more depth for the pitching staff, and the two sides are quite familiar with one another.

If anything, Buehler could try to get his career back on track with Los Angeles, possibly even shifting focus to being a relief pitcher. When he was with the Dodgers, Buehler was one of the better pitchers in baseball, and he seems motivated to keep his career going strong.

Los Angeles loves to take chances on players like Buehler, helping to add to their long reclamation project list. But in this case, Buehler and the Dodgers know each other, making this an even easier transition for all parties involved.

The fans in Los Angeles would love this as well, and it could be the perfect landing spot for the veteran right-hander moving forward. The Dodgers tried to keep Buehler around last offseason, and this could be the chance to make sure he doesn’t go anywhere else again.
