The Boston Red Sox needed to add another arm to their starting rotation to complement their ace, Garrett Crochet, who finished second in 2025 Cy Young voting.

The Red Sox got their man when they agreed to a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals for right-hander and three-time All-Star Sonny Gray before Thanksgiving, giving them a solid No. 2 or 3 option to place behind Crochet.

Gray, who has been with the Red Sox for just a week, has already gotten some good karma with his new team and the fan base, as the 36-year-old said waiving his no-trade clause to go to Boston was easy, given his hatred for the New York Yankees.
