The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to three-peat next season and do not have many flaws on their team. However, there is one spot the team could look to get better at.

Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages figure to occupy two of the starting outfield spots next season. However, the third spot is seemingly a need for the Dodgers. Michael Conforto was a failure of a signing, and the Dodgers need a reliable third outfielder. Pages did not have a strong end to the season, but he had a great year overall and should be viewed as an everyday player. Hernández is not a great defender, but with Shohei Ohtani playing as the designated hitter, Hernández needs to play in the field.

The Dodgers have some internal options, but have been aggressive in recent years. Trading for an All-Star outfielder should not be ruled out, and the Boston Red Sox could be a trade partner. Jarren Duran could be the odd man out in Boston’s outfield, and he was a hot name at the trade deadline. Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer proposed this trade to bring Duran to Los Angeles:

Dodgers receive: OF Jarren DuranRed Sox receive: RHP Emmet Sheehan

The Red Sox have already made one significant addition to their starting rotation via trade. They could be looking to spend big on impact bats, meaning if they want to add to the rotation even more, it may have to be through trade.

Between Roman Anthony, Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela and Duran, the Red Sox have four everyday players in the outfield. Dealing Duran may make the most sense. He is the oldest of the group and has not signed a long-term extension like Anthony or Rafaela.

Duran was an All-Star in 2024, but his numbers dropped last season. He still had a solid season and had an .818 OPS in the second half. Duran would be a great addition for the Dodgers and is under club control through 2028. The Dodgers have a surplus of quality pitchers and Sheehan could be a great option for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox could lose Lucas Giolito this winter and Sheehan could take his spot in the rotation. He missed the start of the season, but in 15 games, he had a 2.82 ERA. He made 12 starts and recorded 89 strikeouts. He is under control through 2029.

This trade would help both sides. Sheehan is a quality starter and is not going to limit the Red Sox’s ability to spend. Duran is an extra-base-hit machine, leading baseball in doubles and triples in 2024 and the American League in triples last season. He would be an upgrade for the Dodgers and address their only flaw.
