Devin Williams’ contract with the Mets was still the buzz yesterday, as there weren’t many other notable moves unless you still believe in Alek Manoah (who signed with the Angels) or are a big believer in Cody Ponce’s KBO revival (he went to the Blue Jays). The Ponce one should be interesting though, as he was the KBO MVP with a 1.89 ERA, 0.935 WHIP, and 252 strikeouts in 180.2 innings for Hanwha. What will he bring to Toronto?
Today on the site, we have two expected posts on the docket. First, Sam will ponder starter Merrill Kelly (another KBO alum) as a potential addition to the starting rotation following seven mostly steady years with the Diamondbacks and Rangers. Later, Kevin will grade slugger Giancarlo Stanton’s 2025 campaign, which saw him pass the 450-homer milestone and record his best pure offensive numbers since his MVP-winning 2017 in Miami.
1. Do you think the Mets will re-sign Edwin Díaz as well after inking Devin Williams to a three-year deal? Or should the Yankees swoop in?
2. Where do you think Ponce will slot in in that Blue Jays rotation?
