The Philadelphia Phillies have been quite a disappointing team over the last few years. They have one of the best rosters in the sport, but they’ve continued to underperform in the postseason.
This offseason is a crucial time for the Phillies. They have multiple top players headed to free agency, including JT Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, and Ranger Suárez. While all their free agents are important, re-signing Schwarber should be their top priority this winter.
Andrew Tredinnick of NorthJersey.com recently projected the Phillies would land a new deal with Schwarber this winter.

“An established, well-respected presence in the Phillies’ clubhouse, Schwarber’s absence would cut deeper than his big bat,” Tredinnick wrote.
Schwarber is a fan favorite for a reason. He’s well-liked within the Phillies fan base and the clubhouse. His production on the field is what’s earned him a huge contract this winter. Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently projected Schwarber would sign a massive $160 million deal this offseason, which should largely limit his suitors.
The Cincinnati Reds are reportedly making a run at Schwarber, but there’s almost no chance they can outbid the Phillies. If the Phillies can give him upward of $120 million, they should be able to land a new deal this offseason. It should be their top priority this offseason.
