Longtime Orioles centerfielder Cedric Mullins has agreed to a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Rays, according to a report by The Tampa Bay Times’ Marc Topkin.
The deal is pending a physical.
Mullins, who was traded to the New York Mets on July 31st. became the only Oriole to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in a season in 2021. H was voted Most Valuable Oriole that season.
A fan favorite for his countless breathtaking catches in center, Mullins succeeded Orioles icon Adam Jones in center in 2018, and though he had a rough 2019 with demotions first to Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Bowie, he returned to the Orioles in 2020.
Mullins finished his Orioles career with 139 stolen bases, seventh in team history, and hit 101 home runs.
In his two months with the Mets, Mullins hit .182 with two home runs and 10 RBIs and eight stolen bases.
