The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in the league right now, but they could look to bolster their roster even more as they pursue a third consecutive World Series title next year.
The Dodgers are reportedly one of the top suitors for free agent superstar Kyle Tucker, but that might not be the top storyline of their offseason.
ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan recently listed the Dodgers as one of the top suitors for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal in a league-altering trade.

“Despite several executives believing Skubal will move, the Tigers have shown no sign of deviating from their position that the back-to-back American League Cy Young winner will stay in Detroit,” They wrote. “Though he’s a free agent after 2026 and contract extension discussions have gone nowhere, Skubal is the Tigers’ centerpiece player, and Detroit intends to contend again next season.”
Skubal is the best pitcher in the league right now, and it would take a haul to land him. But the Dodgers have enough money, talent, and prospect capital to put together a blockbuster trade package that would bring a deal to fruition.
Still, with Skubal being the back-to-back American League Cy Young award winner, it seems unlikely that he’s traded. The Tigers will likely extract every possible ounce of Skubal’s talent before they trade him or lose him in free agency.
Considering they’re still a contender, it seems like the Tigers will hold onto him. But with the Dodgers, anything can happen.
