The Cincinnati Reds have been heavily linked to Kyle Schwarber over the last few months. Cincinnati represents Schwarber’s best chance of playing close to home, and the team needs his power in the lineup. However, what are the chances that he really signs with the Reds?

According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Reds are unlikely to be the highest bidder for Schwarber this offseason. Feinsand would put Cincinnati’s chances of signing Schwarber at around 15%, based on conversations. Cincinnati likely won’t be the favorite for his services.

Schwarber has a very strong market, and there are several teams that would love to sign him. Great American Ball Park is a great hitters’ park and should be attractive to Schwarber. In fact, the thought of playing close to home in a good ballpark could play into Cincinnati’s favor.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be among the tough competitors for the Reds; however, nothing is impossible. If Schwarber is drawn to a homecoming, Cincinnati could be in a great spot as long as the offer is competitive.
