MacKenzie Gore might be one of the most popular names on the trade market heading into the MLB Winter Meetings. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Washington Nationals have discussed trading Gore with other organizations. However, will the Nationals really trade the 26-year-old pitcher?
According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, Gore’s chances of being traded from Washington are “moving a little bit upward” as the hot stove heats up. Gore would likely require a big return for the Nationals, as the acquiring team would have two more years of control.

In 2025, Gore had a 5-15 record with a 4.17 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. Even though Gore had a lower ERA in 2024, his performance was much better this year, earning him a spot on the NL All-Star team. It would hurt Washington to lose his pitching, but now is the perfect time to maximize his value.
Gore is coming off a strong season with team control, so a trade could help the team’s rebuild if an extension isn’t around the corner. Washington will need a major haul to move Gore, and the reality of a trade is becoming increasingly obvious as the offseason moves forward.
