The San Diego Padres signed relief pitcher Ty Adcock to a one-year Major League deal.
The Padres will retain control of Adcock moving forward, as he is not arbitration-eligible as of yet.
In 2025, Adcock made three relief appearances for the New York Mets, throwing for a 3.00 ERA, facing 14 batters, and only giving up two hits, including one home run.Â
Adcock seems to be the latest low-risk project for the Padres, adding to an already still dominant bullpen even with the presumed loss of former closer Robert Suarez and missing reliever Jason Adam in the early part of next season.

The right-handed pitcher has thrown 23 innings at the big-league level but provides a lot of potential upside for the Padres.
Fangraphs has Adcock’s pitches graded out at 115 Stuff+. He throws a 4-seam fastball, a slider, a cutter, a splitter, and keeps a sinker in his back pocket that he barely throws.
He’s got good velocity on his fastball at 97 mph, and both his slider and splitter grade out very well. Adcock has pitched for Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League this season, where he has a 2.00 ERA in nine innings pitched with 15 strikeouts and only two earned runs.
Welcome to San Diego, Ty!

Ty Adcock is a flyball pitcher whose style fits Petco Park very well, and he has potential to add to his strikeout rates with his pitch mix.
His addition could potentially be seen as some developmental insurance for the Padres.
He may pitch in David Morgan’s slot if the Padres choose to convert Morgan into a starting pitcher.
Betting on a reliever that has really good stuff is a recipe that the Padres have previously tapped into, doing the same with Jeremiah Estrada the past two seasons. The work that pitching coach Ruben Niebla and bullpen coach Ben Fritz have done for the Padres pitching staff has paid dividends for the team, and this signing has the potential to continue that trend for the 2026 season and potentially beyond.
