Good morning, baseball fans!

Yesterday, San Francisco Giants General Manager Zack Minasian made an appearance on KNBR in which he confirmed Bob Nightengale’s social media post stating that the team was finalizing a deal with Ron Washington to join their coaching staff, most likely as an infield coach.

Washington, of course, has had an extensive coaching career, having coached with multiple organizations and been the manager for the Texas Rangers and most recently the Los Angeles Angels.

Washington joins Bruce Bochy in being the second former manager of the Rangers to join the organization this offseason. Which is pretty funny (to me, at least), considering the two battled it out as managers during the 2010 World Series.

It is not yet known exactly which role(s) Washington will be taking on, but his coaching experience clearly made him a valuable target for the organization. He will join former managers Bochy, Jayce Tingler and Dusty Baker who will be on hand to offer support to the Giants’ incoming manager Tony Vitello, who will be making his major league managerial debut this coming season.
