MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio –
Breaking & entering: Engle Road
An electronically amplified stethoscope, a multimicrophone, a floor safe containing tax documents and about $290 in cash were stolen late Nov. 22 or early Nov. 23 from Hearing Doctors of Ohio, 7251 Engle.
Someone broke a rear window in the building to get inside. The medical office was ransacked. Most of the money was taken from a cash drawer.
The victim believed that a baseball, autographed by Cleveland Guardians catcher Austin Hedges, was also stolen from the office.
Shoplifting: West 130th Street
An unidentified woman stole three North Face jackets valued at $648 at about noon Nov. 16 from BJ’s Wholesale Club, 6944 West 130th.
Security video showed the woman grabbing three jackets inside the store. She walked to a different section of the store and fumbled with the jackets.
The woman left the store, walking past the shopping-cart area to avoid alarm sensors. She climbed into a sport-utility vehicle and drove away.
Fictitious license plates: Pearl Road
A Brunswick woman, 33, was cited at about 5 p.m. Nov. 23 after police caught her driving with improper license plates.
Police pulled over the woman’s BMW X5 sport-utility vehicle on Pearl near Bagley Road after noticing that the license plate was all-white and reflective.
Police checked the plate number and discovered that the plate had expired and was registered to a Mercedes.
Police then learned that the plate had been ordered from a private business and not issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
