DETROIT — The Detroit Tigers are in agreement on a one-year deal with right-handed pitcher Drew Anderson, league sources told The Athletic Friday.

The contract is pending a physical and has not yet been announced by the team.

Anderson, 31, returns to the Tigers organization after two years in the Korea Baseball Organization. Anderson was with Detroit’s organization for the early parts of 2024 but spent the past two seasons with the SSG Landers, posting ERAs of 3.89 in 2024 and 2.25 in 2025.

Anderson made a strong impression in Tigers camp two years ago, boosting his velocity after a career that had already taken him to stops with the Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox, along with a brief stint in Australia and two years in Japan. He threw 14 innings as a reliever in Triple A before returning to the KBO in late April of that year.

Anderson made an even stronger impression in the KBO last season, pitching a career-high 171 2/3 innings. Anderson caught the attention of scouts by holding his velocity and adding a kick change, helping him average 12.8 K/9.

Anderson, whose contract includes a club option, is expected to join the Tigers as a starter, adding depth to a rotation that already features Tarik Skubal, Jack Flaherty, Casey Mize and Reese Olson, plus young pitchers Troy Melton, Keider Montero and Sawyer Gipson-Long.
