Bo Bichette may go from one Yankees American League East rival to another this winter.
The Athletic reported Friday that some Red Sox officials view free agent Bo Bichette as an “intriguing alternative” if the franchise can’t retain Alex Bregman, who is also on the open market, this offseason.

Bichette, who will be 28 on Opening Day 2026, has spent his entire seven-year big league career with the Blue Jays before hitting free agency.
One of the top young infielders in baseball, several teams, including the Braves, Tigers, Yankees, Mets and Phillies, among others, have all been rumored to have interest in the two-time All-Star.

Bichette, who played shortstop for his entire MLB career but shifted over to second base during Toronto’s playoff run, would likely make that move to second permanent or move over to third base if he signs with the Red Sox, with Trevor Story taking over the shortstop position in Boston.

Earlier this week, The Post’s Jon Heyman floated Bregman as a possible fit for the Blue Jays if they can’t re-sign Bichette, setting up for a potential inter-division free agency flip-flop.
Boston is also considering a pursuit of Kyle Schwarber and Pete Alonso, per Rosenthal.
Bichette, who is expected to land a deal somewhere in the range of $200 million, hit .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs in 139 games last season.
Despite being limited by a left knee injury during their playoff run, Bichette starred for the Blue Jays, hitting .348/.444/.478 across seven games.
In a losing effort during Game 7 against the Dodgers, Bichette blasted a massive three-run home run to give Toronto an early 3-0 lead.

With the Bichette decision looming, the Blue Jays haven’t wasted any time getting busy this offseason, signing right-hander Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal and acquiring KBO MVP pitcher Cody Ponce to a three-year, $30 million contract.
