The Baltimore Orioles are planning to make some big moves this offseason. After their trade for Taylor Ward and $28 million signing of Ryan Helsley, the Orioles are left with plans to resolve their rotation and potentially land a top position player.
Of the options on the market, Baltimore is keen on Kyle Tucker, like most other outfield-needy teams around MLB. But their interest in Tucker isn’t just surface-level; it’s deeper.
According to Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Orioles are involved in Tucker’s free agent market. They aren’t just interested in Tucker; they’re actively trying to court the star outfielder to Baltimore.
Orioles ‘remain involved’ in Kyle Tucker’s free agent market
“The Orioles,” Rosenthal and Sammon write, “while seeking another accomplished starter to complement Trevor Rogers and Kyle Bradish, remain involved with Tucker and other top hitters.”
Baltimore is involved in Tucker’s market this winter, as one of the top potential landing spots for the four-time All-Star outfielder.
With a set infield, Tucker is the lone position player that the Orioles would be willing to spend big on. Kyle Schwarber and Cody Bellinger are also names worth keeping an eye on, but neither is linked as strongly to Baltimore as Tucker has been.

The Orioles are also planning to add a top starting pitcher to their rotation, and while adding Tucker and a top pitcher like Ranger Suarez or Framber will be expensive, their interest in both signals that the front office and ownership are willing to spend.
With the Blue Jays as one of Tucker’s top landing spots, the Orioles will need to contend with their AL East rival to land the top free agent on the market.
Landing Tucker won’t be easy, but the Orioles’ interest is real, and something to monitor as the Winter Meetings begin on December 8th. Baltimore is acting aggressively, and a splash for Tucker would be huge for the momentum the club is building this offseason.
