The Toronto Blue Jays watched Bo Bichette have a bounce-back season after struggling in 2024, but he is now a free agent with seemingly plenty of suitors.
Bichette is not a great defensive shortstop, but his bat makes up for that. However, his shortcomings on defense have opened the door for a position change, extending his market beyond teams that have a hole at shortstop. Teams could be looking at him to play second or third base as well.
With many teams trying to land him, the Blue Jays will have to make a great offer to keep him. However, there is one team the Toronto Blue Jays do not have to worry about outbidding: The Baltimore Orioles. The Athletic’s Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal reported that the Orioles are not pursuing Bichette.

“Neither Bichette nor (Alex) Bregman is on their wish list,” The Athletic wrote on Friday. “The Orioles are set in their infield, other than at first base.”
The Orioles are “involved” in the pursuit of Tucker, according to Sammon and Rosenthal. After missing the postseason this year, the team is clearly interested in adding some stars to its roster. However, Bichette does not fill an area of need for them. His bat would be great for any lineup, but he needs a spot to play.
A bigger threat to steal Bichette from the Blue Jays within the division may be the New York Yankees. Anthony Volpe was not good last year and Bichette could take over at shortstop. If the Yankees do not want him there, they could shuffle their infield to have him at second base and Jazz Chisholm Jr. at third base.
