The UT Tyler softball and baseball teams, both ranked in the top 10 nationally, will be busy this weekend.
The Patriot softball team, ranked No. 1 in the nation, begins what they hope is a chance to defend their national title by hosting the NCAA South Central Regional I Tournament May 8-10 at Irwin Field.
The No. 1 seed Patriots welcome in No. 4 seed Oklahoma Christian, No. 5 Colorado Christian, and No. 7 MSU Denver to Irwin Field in a four-team double elimination bracket.
UT Tyler plays MSU Denver at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by Oklahoma Christian vs. Colorado Christian at 5 p.m.
Day passes include: $10 (general admission), $5 (children 3 to 12) and free (children 2 and under).
All-tournament passes include: $25 (general admission) and $12 (children 3 to 12).
West Texas A&M, the No. 2 seed, hosts the other side of the bracket in Canyon. Set to compete against the Lady Buffs are No. 3 Angelo State, No. 6 Colorado Mesa and No. 7 Lubbock Christian.
The winners of the two regionals will meet on May 15-16 in the NCAA South Central Super Regional at the highest seed remaining’s host site.
